The Designer Dash: Pivoting during a Pandemic

In prepping for businesses reopening, my week was truly like a scene from the show The Amazing Race . . . From getting the early morning text that CBS2 wanted to do a news story on my client’s salon reopening, to finding a temporary solution locally (within 6 hours) since our custom dividers were still in production and hadn’t shipped yet . . . I truly had to put my designer cape and MASK on to MAKE IT HAPPEN!

I always enjoy being able to assist and support in different ways, and even in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was able to help one of my favorite, most loyal client/friend with urgent needs for her business!

My design firm was already in the process of reimagining the South Loop hair salon, using both innovation and creativity, in preparation for ‘COVID-19 readiness.’ I knew that for Spring Capers’ salon (Spring’s Place), it needed to be compliant with the laws, functional, and stylish for her Hair Studio. Spring and I began thinking about what the pandemic meant for her business a few weeks ago, and I began researching and sourcing to meet the needs of her clients and staff. Everyone is ready to get back to the hair salon, but it was important to Spring and myself, to make sure that clients and staff are protected, while keeping the space aesthetically pleasing.

We did it! @SpringsPlace was featured on CBS2 Chicago’s 6 p.m. newscast. And with the latest announcement from our city's Mayor, Spring's Place, will be COVID-ready for business, this coming Wednesday, June 3rd.
